Hyoyi (South Korea)

From Seoul, Year 11 student Hyoyi Pyun is a keen musician. She impressed the crowd with an impromptu piano performance at a Government House welcome luncheon for international students in February.

Tell us about life in South Korea

Lots of people like music in my country. Therefore I played lots of instruments for my hobbies.

How is Elwood College different to your school at home?

Firstly, Elwood College has good conditions for the international student. They have varieties of subjects that we can try.

What is the strangest or funniest thing about living in Australia?

I guess Melbourne weather is very strange for me because it changes every time. One day it was sunny in the morning so I didn't bring an umbrella. Suddenly it was raining at afternoon and I got all wet.

What do you like most about being here?

I like the Australian education system because the majority of students need to learn by rote in my country. I have the opportunity to choose the subject I want to do.

What advice would you give to international students arriving at Elwood College?

The school is the best place to make new friends. Try to have a conversation with students to get closer together.
